Amongst many topics in my new “Kingdom Of The Blind” set for 2023, Ukraine, modern revisionism, social media algorithms and the heart-breaking consequences of PTSD loom large. Oh, and of course there’s political opportunism and the history of the universe...

After all that, we’ll trip lightly on to the serious stuff!

In earlier times, reviewers have kindly compared my style to that of the great Anglo-Irish satirist, Jonathan Swift. This is truly flattering, though I’m not sure Swift would appreciate the association! OK, I can see there’s something a bit Juvenalian in my approach, though I do intentionally steer clear of personal abuse. Can’t see the point, and anyway, why follow the crowd?

Rarely do I write about current happenings – such songs tend to have a relatively short shelf life. However, the majority of my songs are certainly inspired by current issues and events.

A few months back, an interviewer put it to me, “Beau, are you a cynic or a sceptic?”

I honestly don’t know the answer to that. I’d prefer to be a sceptic, but in these troubled, turbulent times I really can’t be sure. I’ll happily settle for being a simple satirist!

Once again, on this my fourteenth outing with Cherry Red Records, I’ve pressed into service my trusty (though not dusty!) 1968 Harmony 12-string guitar.

And, as with all my other Cherry Red releases, “Kingdom Of The Blind” is available for streaming, and for purchase from download sites around the world (including of course iTunes and the Amazons). I really hope you enjoy it!

To accompany the new release, Cherry Red have issued “The Dystopian National Anthem” as the official video to complement “Kingdom Of The Blind”.

I understand of course, as of now, you may not have had the opportunity to experience the full album.

I must however ask those who are able to stand respectfully during the playing of “The Dystopian National Anthem”, and to sing the refrain lustily and with fervour. Lyrics have been provided.

Thank you.

This is what reviewers said of Beau’s 2022 collection, "Al Killem’s Final Show"

“…the veteran’s most caustic, pitiless offering – devoid of romanticism, yet serving poetic justice to every guilty party…” Let It Rock (Canada)

“…he’s exactly the voice we need to hear right now … like the way medieval fools would often use a puppet to speak their truths, whatever may be on the cover Midgley is no dummy.” Mike Davies – Folking.com (UK)

“Beau is a folk singer at heart, sweeping across his homeland like he’s part of a travelling show, warning the other villagers about what the future holds. Of course most of them don’t believe him but hey, it’s their loss as he speaks the truth.” Dagger Zine (USA)

“Gore Vidal said … the great problem with his country is that people now only have opinions not thoughts … Beau is a humble, secret antidote…” Brian R. Banks – MyRockNews (Netherlands)
